Fulfills Young Cancer Survivor’s Dream By Flying Him to Atlantis

Mitch Rotolo, along with board members of The Rotolo’s Foundation, will host a special ceremony at the Rotolo’s Millerville Restaurant. The honored guest, 12-year old Brayden, a melanoma cancer survivor, will be awarded his dream trip of visiting Atlantis in the Bahamas. His mother reached out to Dreams Come True of Louisiana, which is a proud partner of The Rotolo’s Foundation.

Melanoma is rare in children and can be challenging to diagnose because it can appear differently than in adults. According to the National Cancer Institute, about 500 children are diagnosed with pediatric melanoma each year. This accounts for about 2 percent of childhood cancers.

Brayden’s mom, Leah Hollies, a Denham Springs resident, stated “He used to play football all the time, but when he started his treatment he kind of stayed more in his room.”

Brayden has responded well to his treatment and his prognosis is good considering his diagnosis.

Brayden chose Atlantis for the water slides and is super excited to be able to take this trip with his best friend who has been with him through these tough times. Brayden is also a fan of video games and his favorite foods include spaghetti and pizza. He is a natural fit with Rotolo’s.

“In addition to the water slides Brayden was also excited to find out he will be swimming with the dolphins at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas” stated Ms. Becky Prejean, Executive Director of Dreams Come True of Louisiana.
